For Australian manufacturers considering their future in global supply chains, Russell is uniquely positioned to provide expert, experienced advice that could save millions of dollars lost through trial-and-error learning.
Russell built his career in business development and management of companies manufacturing switchgear and power transmission equipment. Over 20 years he progressed through increasingly more senior executive positions and for the last 10 years has been based in China where, as Vice President Asia Pacific for Schneider Electric he was responsible for 27,000 people, 40 factories and $US 4 billion pa in sales.
During this period he was responsible for the acquisition of a number of companies and for their successful integration into the strategic plans of the parent company, gaining important insights into:
- Valuation of the target, based on assessment of the strategic fit and business potential of the acquisition
- Successful integration with the culture, business systems and strategy of the parent
Russell also established several joint ventures (two of them very large ventures with multi-national partners) and has gained similar insights into the factors required for success in this environment.
In January 2011, Russell joined Roaring Success and has worked with several companies in the automotive industry to help diversify their business portfolios

Recent Experience includes:
- Vice President Asia Pacific, responsible for all Group operations in Asia Pacific; including China, Japan, India, SE Asia, Australia and New Zealand
- Member of the Group Management Committee of a Fortune 500 company
- Based in Beijing (2000-2004) and Hong Kong (2004 - 2009)
- Responsible for a number of corporate acquisitions; including ASET, Clipsal, Nulec and PDL
- Operational and Board-level responsibility for very large joint ventures with Delixi and Fuji Electric
- Advisor to the Corporate CEO through 2010, after returning to Australia in a planned succession
- Developed and presented the topic "Leading Up" at the May 2011 Advanced Management Program for the Melbourne Business School
